Jumping rope is one of the cheapest and most convenient ways to lose weight. It was one of the major things i did to lose weight. The main thing you'll be needing is a skipping rope. The key to rope jumping is to start small, and as you get better, you start increasing the amount of jumps, and alternating your jumps, speeding it up etc.
Learning to skip is all in the bounce. Make sure the heel of your foot doesn't touch the ground, bounce on the ball part of your feet. Dont try jumping too high, get into a steady rythm and enjoy your workout. i'd recommend doing 200 skips twice a day for beginners. You can keep increasing it as time goes on (i actually do up to 5000 skips a day when i want to, but i started with 500).
